Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin (Silver Fang: the Shooting Star Gin) is a manga/anime series by Yoshihiro Takahashi. The series came out in the 1980s and has become widely popular in Scandinavia and Finland, especially in Finland, despite the series' Asian origins. It is first series of Ginga.

The manga has only been published in Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Finnish and English. The manga has been published in 7 editions.

First edition contains 18 volumes. Second and third editions contains 10 volumes. The fourth, sixth and seventh editions contains 8 and the fifth contains 6.

Finnish edition of this series has 18 volumes plus special edition of volume 1 in honor of Yoshihiro Takahashi's visit to Finland to be guest of honor in Finnish anime/manga event Tracon. Manga Planet announced in July 2020 that they got the acquired licenses for the official English translation of the manga. It will be released on August 6 on Manga Planet's own website.

Main Plot

You follow the silver brindle Akita puppy Gin's journey from a puppy to an adult dog and document his struggles.

Akakabuto Arc

Deep in Futago Pass, a monster bear called Akakabuto has taken over and spread fear in the villagers as he kills them as soon as they get close.

Introduction Arc

In the beginning you follow the human boy Daisuke's and his dog Gin's training to become hunters so they can avenge Gin's father Riki's death of Akakabuto.

Journey Arc

Gin wants to avenge his father, Riki's murder, and therefore joins a pack of wild dogs, Ohu's army, to gather males around all of Japan in three months. But the journey is filled with dangers and adventures.

Great Battle Arc

All the males have come back from the journey across the country, and now it's time to face Akakabuto and his bear minions in the Great Battle.

Wolf Arc

Time has passed since the death of Akakabuto, but suddenly some wolves kidnap Cross and her pups. Now Gin and his pack find themselves wrapped into a new conflict.
